Your right to an estimate of costs under the No Surprises Act.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under the federal No Surprises Act, health care providers must give clients who are uninsured or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services. This includes related costs like the number of sessions anticipated and the fee per session.
What this means at Illume Counseling
If you are uninsured or choose not to use insurance, you can ask for a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling, and we will provide one in writing. Our current standard fees are $175 per individual session, $225 per couples or family session, and $250 for a group cycle of four 90-minute sessions. Your estimate will reflect the services you and your clinician anticipate.
You may ask for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. You must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days of the date on your bill.
